To create a secure and strong password you are advised to follow these rules:
- The password cannot be identical to the name of the email account
- The password cannot be identical to the domain name
- The password cannot contain only the name of the email account and the domain name
- The password cannot contain only the name of the email account and part of the domain name and cannot have 1 single character (letter, number, symbol) nor a sequence of numbers (ascending or descending) placed at the beginning nor the end.
Here are a few examples of incorrect passwords for the account account@domain.ext
1password, password2, account123, accountabc, accdom123 etc...
- The password cannot contain only one repeated character
- The password cannot contain only a sequence of numbers or alphabetic characters (e.g. abcdef or 123456)
A strong password :
- Does not contain words which can be found in a dictionary.
- Contains a mixture of non sequential uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers and punctuation marks.
